Mr. Benny L. Griggs, Sr. was born on November 18, 1945 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Jimmy lee and Margaret Griggs. Benny was educated in Atlanta Public Schools and graduated from David T. Howard High School in 1964. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1966 and served until 1972. On November 8, 1978, he married Johnnie Mae Davis. He was employed at Bonded Service Warehouse for 40 years. He was an active and faithful member of the Emmanuel Spiritual Holy Temple Church under the leadership of Pastor Beverly A. Heard.

He leaves to cherish: a loving and devoted wife of 29 years, Johnnie Mae Griggs, (1) daughter, Stephanie Griggs (Rodney) Nash, (2) sons, Benny Griggs, Jr. (PJ), and Garrisous Davis (Jew). (1) sister, Ms. Dorothy Griggs. (1) sister-in-law, Mrs. Lisa Griggs, (6) grandchildren: Destinee, Brandy, Ebony, Deuntre, Re'Kyah, and Jaslyn, (2) devoted nieces, Tawanda Russell, Mrs. Michelle Cain, (3) devoted nephews, Anthony Griggs, Bobby Griggs, Jr., and Barry Griggs, (3) brother-in-laws, Charles, James and Alphonso Davis and family, (1) devoted adopted brother to the end, Albert Pitts (Al), and (2) special friends, Charles Carr and Freddie Champs, a devoted cousin, Carl Moore, and last but not in the least, (2) dedicated, devoted, loyal and lifetime friends, Vickie Jefferson and Barbara Pearson, and a host of more nieces and nephews and friends.
