Susan Sylvia Simpson Cannon
Susan Sylvia Simpson Cannon was born in Havaco, West Virginia on April 10, 1946. She departed from this life on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Fort Sander Regional Medical Center. Now she is in the arms of the Lord whom she served and accepted as her Lord and Savior.
Susan attended the Knoxville City Schools and Graduated from Austin High School Class of 1964. She attended KOIC Vocational School and Knoxville Business College. She was employed by Travelers Insurance Company and worked at the University Of Tennessee Financial Aid Office. as a Financial Aid Assistant until her retirement in 2012.

Susan was an active member of Payne Avenue Missionary Baptist, where she served in many Ministries.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Coreen Simpson and Mother Ada Mae Dickerson. Sisters, Phyllis Thraster and Lillie Craven. She leaves her memories to very devoted children , son Walter LaVon Geter(William J. Winston) Tampa Fl, Daughters Joslyne Cannon, Knoxville Tn; Tiffani(James)Rupert, Bloomington, IN. Grandchildren Joshua, Jaden ,Jada Harris, Knoxville Tn, Tatum Cannon, Bloomington IN. Sisters Pearl Simpson, Armentha (Marshall)Eskridge, Knoxville Tn, Alice Hood Springfield Mass, Mary(David)Calloway Colombus Miss. A very devoted brother who was her rock and was always there for her,Willie "J"Boots Crosby (Earnestine) and Sally Ligon.. She leaves her memories to her closet and devoted friends of many years, Saundra Johnson, Bobbie Bridges and Carolyn Fraley; she will be missed by her aunts ,uncles,nieces,nephews cousins and many friends to include Teresa Davis and the Payne Avenue Missionary Baptist Church Family.
A very devoted sister Armentha Eskridge who attended to her during her brief illness and was very supportive to the family.
Thanks goes out for the excellent care provided to Susan at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, 8 North, Neuro ICU, ER Staff Dr Wong, DrWolfenbarger, Dr Richard Lee, Dr Louis Smith and Nurse April.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. with the Celebration of Life Service to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Payne Ave. Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Brown officiating. The final resting place will immediately follow at the Berry Highland South Cemetery Memorial Park.
Mrs. Cannon will lie-in-state on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 12:00-6:00 p.m. at the Unity Mortuary Chapel.
