Obituary For Isabel McLean

Isabel Edna Anderson McLean was born on November 12, 1923 to Ada Sealey and Otis Anderson in New York. She had two siblings, Marian and Otis, Jr.

She was educated in Jamaica, New York where she graduated from high school. Her first job was as a counter waitress at Chock Full of Nuts where she developed her great love of coffee. She also worked at the Veterans Administration prior to her forty year career at New York Telephone Company. In 1952, she married Wesley McLean and they had one child, a daughter, JoAnn.

For most of her forty years at the New York Telephone Company, Isabel served as a marine telephone operator. In the late seventies, "Mrs. Mac" was popular for keeping marine radiotelephone communications at the Hempstead office running smoothly.

Isabel retired in 1986 and devoted her time to tutoring (for a short time) shopping and taking care of her dear husband. In 1995, they moved to Decatur, Georgia to be near their daughter. She continued her love for shopping and attending musical and thatrical events as well as frequenting local restuarants.

Mrs. McLean was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and the love of her life, Wesley. She will be sorely missed by her devoted daughter, JoAnn McLean; her beloved companion, Judith Patricia Andrews; and a host of other family and friends.
