Jackie “JJ” Hiawatha Johnson, age 66, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 25th, 2021. Jackie was born on March 22nd, 1955 to Iona and Hiawatha Johnson in Chesterfield County, SC. Jackie and Barbara were happily married for many years and to many their relationship exemplified what a loving marriage should be. He and Barbara met at a very young age and were connected instantly and their connection will last beyond his passing. Many times his children joked at how unapologetic they expressed their love for one another. They shared a passion for travelling, gardening, spending time together and were proud of their growing family. Jackie was an avid runner, inspirational quote writer, and a wonderful father. Above all, Jackie loved spending time with his family and friends. Jackie was incredibly proud of the over 40 year career he had built at Hendrick Automotive Group with 26 years of service at Hendrick Lexus Charlotte. His other years were spent at Hendrick Dealerships including City Chevrolet, Barrier Beck, Honda Cars of Concord, and Saturn of Charlotte before he found his second home at Hendrick Lexus Charlotte. He not only served his community, but served God within his home church, Oro Church. Jackie led his life as a role model and inspiration for others with an unselfish stewardship towards everyone he encountered. His impact was felt by all who knew him. Jackie’s love, insight, and lessons will live on through his legacy.

Burton (Joseph) of Huntersville, NC; Ricky Johnson of Charlotte, NC; Michelle Sowell of Atlanta, GA; and Phelishia Blakeney (Jeff) of Pageland, SC; nine grandchildren: Kyle, Julian, Chloe, Ashton, Brooke, Chase, Jase, Caleb, and Madison; his siblings: Marion Johnson of Pageland, SC; Annette Johnson of Pageland, SC; Donald Johnson (Shirlette) of Monroe, NC; Gail Shine (Lee) of Pageland, SC; Mexie Truesdale (Odell) of Pageland, SC; Ricky Ray Johnson of Charlotte, NC; Terry Johnson of Pageland, SC; Shirley Howie (Robert) of Charlotte, NC; Jimmy Leach of Pittsburgh, PA; and Quinzell Leach of Pittsburgh, PA; his brothers and sisters of the Robinson family: Shirley Austin (Dunbar), Vivian Sowell, Pamela Wade, Franklin Robinson, Walter Robinson Jr., Cecelia Clark (Rev. Johnny), Colon Robinson, and Rodney Robinson; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Iona and sister Margaret Mobley.

Funeral Services for Mr. Jackie H. Johnson will be on Thursday, July 1, 2021, 12:00 noon, Oro Church, 1485 Oro Church Road, Pageland, South Carolina, 843-672-3800.

The Johnson Family will greet friends on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour (12:00 noon) at Oro Church and at all other times at the family residence.
