Obituary For Mrs. Wanda Jane Reed

Wanda Jane Reed entered into eternal rest after a sudden illness in Atlanta, GA on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Wanda was born on February 23, 1948, the eldest daughter of Rebecca Henton and the late Willie Collier. She was a graduate of Weaver High School Class of 1966.

Besides her mother of Hartford, Wanda leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children, daughter, Dwan (Sylvia) Reed of Hampton, GA and Dex (Kimberly) Reed of Powder Springs, GA; her beloved grandchildren, Andrew, Jewell, Danielle, and Sasha; and sisters, Deborah Cox, Fayette (George) Mathis, Cheryl Anderson, Cornelia (Andrew) Lee-Baker, Pam (Gordon) Jones, Patricia (Mike) Woods, and Debi (Dennis) Brown; her brothers, William (Jacqueline) Richardson, Shawn, Willie, Kevin and Darryl Collier as well as numerous relatives and friends including a special niece, Tori Hamilton.

Wanda was previously employed at Union Carbide and Kaiser-Permanente but she was mostly known as a stay at home mom who helped to nurture a generation of children by providing daycare services to many working families in East Hartford and continued to do so after relocating to Atlanta over a decade ago.

Our blessed Angel, Wanda, will always be remembered as a fun-loving, beautiful woman with striking hazel eyes and an immense love for God, music and laughter. Wanda loved life and lived it on her terms always in reverence to God. Though she will be greatly missed, the family takes comfort in knowing without question that she is with our Father in Heaven.
