Obituary For Mrs. Hattie Mae Gilbert

Mrs. Hattie Mae Miller Gilbert, daughter of the late Fannie Pendleton and Hugh Miller, was born July 28, 1928 in Todd County, Kentucky.

God called Mrs. Gilbert home Friday, April 9, 2010 at home after an extended illness. She was 81 years 3 months and 21 days old.

Mrs. Gilbert professed a hope in Christ at an early age. She was united with Macedonia Baptist Church in Todd County, Kentucky. After moving away she attended church in Cedar Rapid, Iowa. Hattie was married to the late Richard Gilbert, who preceded her in death. Hattie retired from the Quaker Oak Company.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Linda (Robert) Gilbert Cole, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sons, Robert (Tameka) Pendleton, of Decatur, Georgia, Stewart Gilbert, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters, Mollie Johnson, of Guthrie, Kentucky and Anna (Larry) Drake, of Ypsilanti, Michigan; one brother, William “Edd” (Mildred) Pendleton, of Kokomo, Indiana; 15 grandchildren, 9 great grand children, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Hattie was a quiet and loving person. She was loved by all she came into contact with. For many years she was a care giver to many that were in need of a place to stay. All join together to express their love. Hattie will never be forgotten nor replaced.
