Obituary For George Dendy
George Dendy, Jr. of Spartanburg SC, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. He was born on April 4, 1933 to the late George Washington Dendy and Dorsie Glenn Dendy. George was the third of thirteen children. Mr. Dendy was the husband of his loving and devoted wife, Minnie L. Dendy.
George was employed with Chrisman & Parsons Construction Co. for sixty years as a heavy equipment operator.
He was a Mason with Tamin Temple.
Mr. Dendy was a member of Community Baptist under the leadership of Rev. Allen Rector until his health declined where he served on the Deacon Board.
He was talented with his hands excelling in carpentry, plumbing, electrical and auto repair. Mr. Dendy was self-taught to operate any kind of heavy equipment. George was a firm believer that hard work pays off.
He was preceded in death by: eight siblings, Tina Mae Dendy, Jason Dendy, Sr., Benny Dendy, Sr., Elbert Dendy, Albert Dendy, William Dendy, Christina Moultrie and Asa Lee Dendy; son, Darryle Dendy.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: his five children, George (Revia) Dendy, III of Salisbury NC, Gerry (Shelia) Dendy, Barry (Robin) Dendy both of Spartanburg SC, Anthony (Theresa) Dendy of Omaha, NE and Rita Dendy Littlejohn of Raeford, NC; his twenty-two grandchildren; his forty-five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; four siblings, Carrie Livingston of Mt. Vernon, NY, Luther Dendy of Salisbury, NC, Doris Davenport and Kathleen Smith both of Duncan SC; his stepchildren, Rick Roland, Cynthia (Harold) Hoey, James Roland and Robert Jones; a host of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Services for George Dendy, Jr. were held on Monday, July 5, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC.
