My Brother "loved" himself some Omega Bruh, Guion Davis. And, through that love I gained much respect and honor for him as a wise man, caring soul and dedicated friend to Hosea 'til the end. I was at the ceremony when he and his other classmates became NCCU GOLDEN EAGLES!! What a milestone for one who remained committed to our "dear ole NCC" all of his adult life! Guion's first teaching job was here in Southern Pines, where he is remembered quite fondly and former students beam with joy and adoration at the mention of his name! Guion has earned his place in Heaven! Sincere condolences to Ella, his family and friends. He lives on in the many lives he touched. Dot Brower, 🔺❤️, Southern Pines, NCCU 73

Mr. Guion Davis was a very dear friend of the Costen family. The Alpha Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity members and families of long ago were like a great big happy family! Oh the fun times at the Progressive Club, the local frat house, the country club house of which many were a member, the CIAA tournaments, the Norfolk Cruise parties, and on Mr. Davis personal motor boat were just a few adventures that molded us as one! I will always cherish Mr. Davis because he along with his wife Ella were also our "go to couple" at our church, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. May you continue to enjoy eternal life in heaven, and we'll take care of your "Bae" , Mrs. Ella Davis! Forever in the hearts of me and my family! Love you and you will be solely missed!

Mr. Guion Davis was indeed one of the finest people whom I have ever known. I had the pleasure of working with him for many years. Particularly, I reminisce on the many trips taken with him and the times we worked together in Upward Bound at Saint Augustine's. While teaching was a joy, the best part was the daily commute to and from Rocky Mount and Raleigh. Gwen Whitaker, Shirley Morton, and I laughed the entire time as Mr. Davis regaled us with stories and tales from his life and experiences. I learned so much from him. The indelible mark that he left in kindness, service, and basic humanity shall remain written up our world and in our hearts. I'm a better man for having known Guion Davis. Mrs. Davis, please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of Mr. Davis. You were also such a wonderful colleague and an even better friend. I'm grateful to have been a recipient of the love and support that the two of you shared. I shall continue to pray for you and your stength during this time and beyond. --James E. Sledge

Mrs. Davis and family, the Class of 1965 of West Southern Pines High School, Southern Pines, NC, offers to you our sympathy. Coach Davis was a warm, welcoming force to a group of youngsters entering the huge world of high school. He was our Freshman Homeroom Teacher. The face of the beginning of phenomenal memories that have carried us throughout our lives. It was a gift from God that I, personally, found myself face to face with that same warm welcoming smile in January 2020. There are some people we meet along the way whose faces fade over time. Memories of Coach Davis's smile brightened many days over the years and lifted many doubtful times. His assurance then that we could conquer any fears have resonated time after time. So, during this time, we will reflect on his gift to us of himself. And offer thanks to God for his lifelong influence and love. We all are better because he dared to show us how to care. Our gratitude will always honor our Coach Davis. God bless you all. Tessie Taylor, Class of 1965 WSP High School.

I am still reeling from the news of Guion's Davis's death. Hard to believe that he , Mrs. Davis and I were/are on first name basis. After all, they were my teachers in high school. If don't ever remember anything else, I will always remember the amoeba and Protozoa that Guion taught us in biology. lol. And yes, Ella Davis is the best librarian that I've ever known. When I came home from Baltimore to visit , I would not miss the opportunity to stop by to visit with them. That's how we became such great friends . I will always remember Guion's great "dry" humor. He could really make one laugh. Rest on my teacher and friend. I'll see you on the other side. Genevieve Pender Lancaster

Coach Davis was a gentleman, friend, and calming influence on all of those around him. He embodied the characteristics that any coach, teacher, or man would want. Returning to Rocky Mount over the years usually included spending time with Guion and Ella. They referred to us as "the children", a term, though lovingly applied to many, was one which we cherished. What beautiful "parents" they were to us--concerned about our well-being, delighting in our accomplishments, sharing our sorrows, and welcoming us "home". Guion's passing leaves a void in our lives for we have lost a dear friend. With prayers of comfort for Ella, their family and host of other friends, Janice Grimes Lewis & Family BTW '64 Augusta, Georgia
