Obituary For Doris F. Maiden

Mrs. Doris F. Maiden passed July 7, 2012.

Celebration of life service will be Friday, July 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Antioch A.M.E. Church, 765 S. Hairston Road, Stone Mountain, GA 30088.

Doris Jean Maiden was born March 28, 1932 in Birmingham, AL to the late Corris and Annie Foney. She was the eldest of nine siblings. On September 12, 1951, Doris married the love of her life, Sidney Maiden. She was the proud mother of four children. Mrs. Maiden retired from Baptist Medical Center Princeton in Birmingham, AL where she worked for 20 years. Doris decided at an early age to follow Jesus and joined Lee’s Chapel AME Church and never turned back. Her unconditional love for the church and young people led her to form a Sunday school class for the youth. She was a stewardess and a member of the choir. She later joined Antioch AME Church, Stone Mountain, GA. Throughout her life, Doris always sought truth, always full of love, laughter and spiritual conversations. She was a loving person who touched the lives of many people. Her smile and kind words were an inspiration to all. She had trust and unwavering faith in the Lord.

The life of this amazing, God-fearing woman can be measured by the loves she touched in large and small ways. She gave consistently without fanfare or attention. It was her way to help and uplift others. Anyone who came to her house would always leave with something. Early Saturday morning, July 7, 2012, the Lord gently touched Doris and relinquished her from her pain and she entered into heaven’s gate. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Maiden, two sons, Larry and James Curtis, and brother, Corris Foney. Doris will be greatly remembered and missed by her son, Ronald Maiden (Ann) of New Berne, NC; daughter, Cynthia Carlisle (Jim) of Stone Mountain, GA; two daughters-in-law, Kathy Maiden and Sarah Maiden; three brothers, O’Neil (Loretta), William, Roosevelt and Donel; three sisters, Laeuria, Yvonne and Ann; nine grandchildren, Tiffany, Darius, Ronald Jr., Jimmy, Brandon, Crystal, Jasmine, James Jr. and Lindsay; six great grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
