Obituary For Braxton Allen Bladen

Braxton Allen Bladen, 83, died peacefully at home of leukemia on October 23, 2013. He was born on October 1, 1930, in Hartford, Ct., the son of Ashby and Kathryn Bladen. The family moved to Glen Ridge, New Jersey in 1940. Mr. Bladen graduated from the Storm King School, Cornwall, NY., and Hobart College, Geneve, N.Y. Following U.S. Army service in Korea, he graduated from the American University College of Law in Washington D.C. Mr. Bladen's 40 year career as an attorney for the Travelers Insurance Company took him from Washington, D.C., to Hartford, Ct., San Francisco, Fresno and Atlanta. He considered these moves an adventure and enjoyed seeing the country with his family. He excelled at his work and made many life long friends along the way. He married Leslie Ann Blakeman of Penn Van, N.Y. on March 20, 1954, who survives him. Also surviving are his son William (Dee), Marietta, Ga., his daughter Leslie (Paula), Decatur, Ga., two grandchildren, Wesley (Jessica) and Alexandra Owens (Brandon) and four great grandchildren. A celebration of his life is being planned for a later date. Donations may be made to the Leukemia Society.
