Summerton, SC

Shelia Renee Hemingway, daughter of the late Henry Stanley and Selveda Hemingway was born August 30, 1962 in Newark, New Jersey.

She attended and graduated from Whittlemore High School in Conway, South Carolina. She received her certificate of Baptism from St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church under the presiding pastor, Reverend W. J. Chandler on July 6, 2008.

Shelia worked Clarendon School District One as a Custodian at Scotts Branch Middle/High School, Summerton, South Carolina.

She loved family events, especially involving a good game of cards (Spades). She loved to sing and was just an all around spontaneous spirit.

Shelia transitioned to eternal rest on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 when the Lord called her at 11:30 pm at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, South Carolina.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories two loving daughters, Priscilla Lawson of Manning, SC and Tawanda Lawson of Summerton, SC; four caring grandchildren: Katherine White of Manning, SC, Marcus Riley of Summerton, SC, Kevin White, Jr. of Manning, SC and Jaʹveon Riley of Summerton, SC; a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services for Ms. Hemingway were held 11:00AM Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Hayes F. Samuels, Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St., Manning, SC. Rev. W. J. Chandler, officiated.
