Mr. Lee Junior Murphy
Passed 02/03/2018
Lee Junior Murphy was born June 26, 1942 to the late Geneva Murphy Buie. Geneva later married Dock Buie and together they raised him into adulthood. He received Christ as his personal Savior and joined St. Matthew AME Church. The gates of Heaven opened to welcome him home on Saturday, February 3, 2018. “Hine”, as he was affectionately called by almost everyone who knew him, was not complicated. He was a simple man and loved the simple things in life. He was a craftsman and could build anything. “Hine” was a hard worker and worked on the farm for many years. He also worked at Dixiana Mills for a number of years and then for Rowell Farms prior to retirement. He loved to garden, play checkers, and baseball. “Hine” had a huge heart and opened his home to so many who were in need. He was a giving man and blessed a lot of people by his generosity. Many of you may have your own personal testimony of his generosity. The world is a better place because he was here. He had a way of communicating complicated matters in a simple way that made you realize that everything was going to be alright. “Hine” was married to the former Maxine Sowells and together they had six children. “Hine” was predeceased by his parents Dock and Geneva Buie; a brother, Dock Thomas Buie, mother-in-law, Lula Mae Sowells; brothers-in-law, Frank McLellan, Northern E. Sowells, James E. Baker, and Henry Campbell; sisters-in-law, Carrie Ann Sowells and Jenny Ruth Sowells. “Hine” leaves to cherish precious memories his children: Willie Lee “Red” Murphy, Dorothy Murphy, Patricia Murphy, Donald Murphy, Matthew Murphy of Paterson, NJ and Deborah Murphy-Perry (Andre) of Clayton, NC; grandchildren: Demetrius Ford, Shadeequa Jones, Dashon Jones, Malexis Murphy, Shaquille Murphy, and Quadir Perry; great grandchildren: Yacire Abraham, Zion Abraham, Morgan Jones, Tyson Jones, and Karine Murphy; sisters: Marie McLellan, Lucille Murphy, Ammie (Michael) Williams, Mary (Willie) Lighty and Betty Buie of Hamer, SC; Addie Campbell, Mamie (William) Legette of Dillon, SC; Ann (Leon) Page of Elgin, SC; Judy (Charles) Owens of Lumberton, NC; brothers: James “Bill” (Mary Ann) Buie and Milton Buie of Hamer, SC; uncles: Rufus (Ophelia) Murphy of Dillon, SC, Randolph (Darletha) Murphy of Hamer, SC, David Buie of Jersey City, NJ; aunts: Maggie Bullard of Hamer, SC and Doris (Carlton) Sherman of Dillon, SC.
