Obituary For Mrs. Shirley Jean Hayes

Shirley Jean Hayes, 79 of Lake View, South Carolina was the daughter of the late Will and Lila Brigman. She was born on July 7, 1938 and quietly departed this life, entering Heaven’s gates on Wednesday, February 7, 2018.

An adoring mother and friend to many, Shirley enjoyed shopping, gardening, spending time with her family and friends, traveling and passing on family fables. She loved beautiful hats and owned an extensive collection of such. Shirley attended Columbus High School, graduating salutatorian of her class. Over the years, she devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members and special friends.

Shirley had an unwavering faith in God and was an active member of Fork Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She had a beautiful voice. On Sunday mornings she could be found in her kitchen drinking coffee before church, singing along with her favorite gospel radio station. For many years she served as a Trustee and the Financial Secretary, but she was most proud of serving on the Missionary Board. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the songs that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Burnice Hayes and all of fifteen of her brothers and sisters.

Shirley’s beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family. She is survived by her "four boys" Burnice “Grant” Hayes of Greenville, NC, Derrick (Melissa) Hayes of Fairfax, VA, Corey (Pamela) Hayes of Columbia, SC, Hendrix Hayes of Charlotte, NC; three grand-daughters: Shakoria 'Boot' Hayes of Newberry, SC, Taryn 'Ladybug' Hayes of Richmond, VA, Lauren 'Cupcake' Hayes of Columbia, SC; one great grand-daughter: Kaylee 'Butterball' of Newberry, SC and a host of very special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

To The Grieving Family of Ms. Shirley Jean Hayes.... A message of Solace at The Time of Your Lost of a Loved One………… JESUS’ ROLE IN COMFORTING ALL WHO MOURN God intended that Jesus have a key role in providing comfort. Among other tasks that God assigned him, Jesus was “to bind up the brokenhearted” and “comfort all who mourn.” (Isaiah 61:1, 2) As foretold, Jesus took a special interest in people who were “toiling and loaded down.”—Matthew 11:28-30. Today, the Son of God is not present on earth to comfort us personally. But his Father, Jehovah, “the God of all comfort,” continues to help those in need. (2 Corinthians 1:3) Consider four principal means that God uses to comfort people. • The Bible. “All the things that were written beforehand were written for our instruction, so that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope.”—Romans 15:4. • God’s Holy Spirit. Not long after Jesus’ death, the whole Christian congregation entered into a period of peace. Why? “It walked in the fear of Jehovah and in the comfort of the holy spirit.” (Acts 9:31) The holy spirit, God’s active force, is very powerful. God can use it to comfort anyone in any circumstance. • Prayer. “Do not be anxious over anything,” the Bible advises us. Rather, it says, “let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your mental powers.”—Philippians 4:6, 7. • Fellow Christians can provide a comforting ‘safety net’ of true friends. The apostle Paul described his companions as “a source of great comfort” in times of “distress and tribulation.”—Colossians 4:11; 1 Thessalonians 3:7. It is my sincere hope that these words/this knowledge helps to sustain you, your family during your Bereavement… Along with your Bible Go to www.jw.org 'Bible' or 'Publications' to answer any bible topic
