Obituary For Curtis Dennis Dalton

Curtis Dennis Dalton, 98, of Walnut Cove, NC died July 13, 2021. A public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2021, at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Withers Chapel United Methodist Church, Walnut Cove, NC. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Dry Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Walnut Cove, NC.

Curtis, age 98, the third of eleven children, was born on December 1, 1922 in Walnut Cove, Stokes County, North Carolina to John William McKinley Dalton and Ethel Mae Hairston Dalton. He received his wings and went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at his home in Walnut Cove where he was greeted by his parents and son, Raymond Welch, along with grandchildren, Letetra Dalton and Brandi Cooke as well as his siblings Lula Price, Ida Hairston, Roosevelt Dalton, Catherine Cole, Daisy Chandler, Shirley Duckins. Curtis grew up in Stokes County and was educated at the Walnut Cove Colored School. A dedicated provider, hard worker and devoted father. He worked at the family tobacco farm, in the coal mines in West Virginia, Washington Mills in Madison and retired from Southern Building Maintenance at the Duke Power Steam Plant on Belews Lake.

He enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, time on the lake, classic American cars and a house full of grandchildren. Curtis leaves behind his beloved wife, Ida Welch Dalton, his 15 children and their spouses: Curtis McKinley Dalton, Gary Wayne Dalton (Lena), Glenda Dorthea Dalton White (Robert), Bernard Fulp (Peggy), Charles Welch (Marvena), Susan Welch Allen (Shawn), Theodore Welch, Lucy Dalton Barnes (Calvin), Tony Dalton, Timothy Dalton (Jessica), Jessie Dalton Roberts (Keith), Rebecca Blue (Ivory), Janet Dalton (Glenn), John Dalton, Donna Dalton. Siblings: Frank Dalton (Mary Pearl), Alice McNeil (Herman), Albert Dalton (Joann), Betty Ruth Jackson (Ronald), sister-in-law; Barbara Ann Welch, brother-in-law; Delbert Duckins along with 51 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren in addition to beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
