Mr. James Albert Garrett Jr., 80, of Gadsden, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. Birth: July 30, 1940 in Talladega, Alabama

Death Date: July 14, 2021 at Riverview Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

Place of Birth: Gadsden, AL

Parents: James Garrett and Annie Bell Garrett of Gadsden, AL

Education: Attended Gadsden City School System. Member of the Caver High School Class of 1958. Upon graduation James enlisted in the United States Armed services. James completed his commitment to protecting his country and was honorably discharged.

Deceased Information: James returned to his home of Gadsden upon completion of him military service where he enjoyed antique cars, racing and being a activity member of the local community. The community embraced his tall and lean statue. He later became known as “Pop” and by the phrase he coined “Everythang Is Everthang.” James, our beloved Carver community cowboy sported the finest Stetsons and Western boots. James along with his parents and siblings were spiritually nurtured as members of the Galilee Baptist Church.

Subsequent to his military service he was employment by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.

He later met and married a young nurse Jewell in 1969. James enjoyed 52 years of matrimony. He and Jewell reared three children together as husband and wife. James (Pawpaw) leaves precious memories with family and friends that include: Spouse: Wife Jewell Dean Flambo Garrett Daughter: Latona Garrett, Gadsden Alabama Sons: James Garrett III, Harvest, Alabama Jay (Tina) Garrett, Gadsden, Alabama Tracy (Chasity) Crook, Gadsden, Alabama Sister: Mary Jo Robinson, Victorville, California Brother: Roosevelt (Kathleen) Madison, Hesperia, California

James was efficiently called “PawPaw” by Seven Grandchildren: Brandi Crook, Rashad Miller, Alexia Jones, Maliq Croft, Jay Garrett Jr. Jaden Garrett and Jalya Garrett all of Gadsden, Alabama. Six great grandchildren

Nieces and Nephews: Adrienne Mitchell, Leslie Bridges, Lisa Robinson, Kathya Dudley, Julie Garrett, Priscilla Ware, Shakesha Garrett, Dustin Gray, Dillion Garrett and Jade Garrett.

Mother-In-Law: Easter Crook; Brother-In-Law: Kelvin Crook; Sister-In-Law: Kimberly Campbell Special Friend: LC Riddle and a host of other relatives, classmates and former co-workers.

Public viewing will be Tuesday, 3-6pm.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at the Galilee Baptist Church at 12:00 noon. Eulogist: Reverend Dr. G.E. Robinson Sr. Interment: Rainbow Memorial Garden.
