Sherman Ervin Matthews, Jr., 73, transitioned to eternal rest on July 7, 2021.
Matthews graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Kentucky State University. He was awarded a Masters degree in Counseling from the University of Tennessee.
He retired from the State of Tennessee after thirty-three years of employment working as a youth counselor.
Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn Matthews; his daughters, Kimberly D. Cofield of Loganville, GA and The Honorable Erica L. (Pastor Ryan) McJimpsey, Municipal Court Judge, Spartanburg, SC; his five grandchildren; his great grandson; and his brother, Kevin R. Matthews of Chattanooga, TN.
A Celebration of the Life of Sherman Ervin Matthews, Jr. and Interment will be held in Chattanooga, TN.
