Obituary For Mrs. Nancy Rose Hendricks Watkins

MRS. NANCY ROSE HENDRICKS WATKINS, daughter of the late Elmer Hendricks, Sr. and Pearline Johnson Hendricks, was born August 10, 1948 in Rocky Mount, NC and departed this life suddenly July 14, 2021 at her home, South Hill, VA. Two of her siblings preceded her in death, Vernell Wilson and Elmer Hendricks, Jr. At an early age she was baptized and joined Jerusalem United Christian Church. She attended the former East End High School. Nancy Rose, as she was so affectionately called, was married to the late Whitney M. Watkins. She enjoyed cooking, going to church, and telling everybody else what to do. She later joined St. Luke Baptist Church #2 under the pastorship of the late Reverend Kevin C. Pearson. She was a member of the Usher Board and loved being a door keeper in God’s house. She greeted all who came through the church doors with a smile and a warm greeting of “Good morning, how you doing?” Nancy Rose loved everybody and was the same all the time. She never met a stranger. She could talk, talk, talk, and talk. She leaves to mourn two brothers- Early Johnson, Baltimore, MD and Will L. “Sonny Boy” (Dorine) Hendricks, South Hill, VA; one sister- Elizabeth H. Jiggetts, South Hill, VA; nieces and nephews she reared- Delores W. (Dannie) Simmons; Larry “Porky” (Louise) Hendricks; devoted, Joyce “Bump” (James) Bruce, and William “Junior” Jiggetts, all of South Hill, VA; In-laws, Queen Williams and Flossie Watkins, LaCrosse, VA and Martha Watkins, Brooklyn, NY; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends; great-great-niece she adored, Promise McClenny; Godchild- Chelsee L. Feggins and her son-Ca’Mari; devoted friends- Lucille W. Thomas, Carolyn “Jeannie Girl” Brown; Hazel Lambert, Renee Overby, Brenda McKnight; Lynn Harris, Mary Long, Blanche Pritchett; Dorothy “Dottie Boo” Russell, and Robert Keezee.
