Obituary For Sandra B. Jenkins

“A servant of God Well Done. The glorious warfare’s past. The battle is fought, the race is won, and thou art crowned at last.” Sandra B. Jenkins, daughter of the late Thomas Pine Bennett and Bettie Lee (Campbell) was born January 2, 1956 and passed on to glory, July 18, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro North Carolina. Sandra, also known as “Samp”, graduated from Bowman Senior High School in 1975 where she was an outstanding student and basketball player. Sandra was a huge overall sports fan, but basketball was her passion. She won numerous basketball awards throughout her high school career. There wasn’t a move she couldn’t make, and an ankle she couldn’t break. After High School, Sandra attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she pursued her bachelor’s degree. She was a die-hard Tar Heel fan and represented them everywhere she went. After graduating she then went on to earn her master’s at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She sold books at The Southwestern Company and also worked as an Accounting Assistant for 25 years at Trone Advertising. When it came to Sandra as a person, she loved to laugh and make others feel good about themselves. Her affectionate smile would light up any room and her kind heart would make anyone feel at home. At an early age, Sandra was saved at her hometown church, West Deep Creek Baptist Church. After relocating she became a loyal member of United Institutional Baptist Church and served on the usher board. She was young, energetic, and loved to attend all her kids’ activities at school and church. But outside of her accolades, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, aunt, and friend. Surviving and cherishing the wonderful memories of Mrs. Sandra B Jenkins include a loving husband Milton L. Jenkins, daughter Miranda Jenkins, great nephew Christian Bennett, and great niece Natasha Huntley who she also raised in Greensboro, NC; four nephews and four nieces, including Tammy Bennett, and Herbert James, Jr. of Wadesboro NC, Asia Johnson, Angel Johnson, April Johnson of Goldsboro, NC, Pine Bennett (Speedy) of Orlando, FL, Alvin Todd Bennett of Gastonia, NC, and Bruce Davis of Patterson, NJ. great nephews, nieces and a host of relatives and good friends.

I will forever remember Sandra (Samp) Bennett Jenkins. She had a kind heart and a sweet spirit. I'll never forget the time she saved my young son from drowning in the pool at Little's Park in Wadesboro. I was ever so grateful that she stepped up that day. Family, I know this is a sad time for you, but just remember, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I will keep you lifted in prayer!!!

Sandra (Samp) as we call her in Deep Creek was a loving and fun person to be around. Her brother Alvin and I were best friends. She readily embraced our friendship and joined in with a lot of love, laughter and good times we shared. My prayers are with the family during this time of grief. "Zack Little "
