Maggie ’s mother died when she was a very young age, so she was reared by her loving grandmother, the late Maggie McGill Hickman. During her youthful years, she had a loving great aunt, the late Ruby Hickman Wilson, that also stepped in as a mother would in helping to raise Maggie. Maggie graduated from Highland High School, class of 1966. She was a healthcare worker and worked at Gaston County Schools. She was a woman with many other skills and used them very well.
Maggie was a life-long member of New High Springs Baptist Church, Gastonia, NC and sung with the gospel chorus. She also was on the Kitchen Committee until her health failed. Maggie was able to attend church faithfully and loved serving the Lord.
Besides her parents, grandparents, and great aunt, she is preceded in death by her brother: Earnest “Hugh” Crawford.
She leaves to cherish loving memories: two daughters: Ms. Samantha D. Crawford and Zella M. Crawford both of Gastonia, NC; one granddaughter: Zayanna E. Crawford whom she loved dearly; one loving uncle: James Crawford of Bessemer City, NC; a loving first cousin: Tommy Shoats (Elizabeth) of Charlotte, NC; a sister-in--law: Evangeline Crawford and a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends.
