MRS. ROSA NELL TOWLER BASKERVILLE, daughter of the late John Towler and Lou Etta Towler Phillips, was born June 22, 1933 in Mecklenburg County, VA.

She transitioned on July 16, 2021 at her daughter’s residence in LaCrosse, VA. Nine of her siblings preceded her in death- Martha Blackman, Mary Jane Dodson, Effie Farrar, Jennie Jacox, Nora Johnson, Moses Walker, Thomas Walker, Andrew Walker and Norris Towler.

At an early age she was baptized and was a faithful member of Union Hill RZUA Church, Baskerville, VA.

She attended Ebenezer School from 1936-1943 and Thyne School from 1944-1948.

On December 8, 1952 Rosa was joined in Holy Matrimony to Richard A. Baskerville, who preceded her in death on May 20, 2002 and to this union two daughters were born. After marriage she joined Gethsemane Baptist Church where she was a faithful and active member of the Deaconess Board, Missionaries, Willing Workers Club, The Spiritual Chorus and the Young People Sunday School Teacher. Her community involvement included being a former member of Carnation Chapter #171 O.E.S., P.H.A. of Virginia.

Rosa was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She truly loved the Lord and was devoted to God and family.

Rosa leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters- Gladys Tanner, LaCrosse, VA and Loretta Weeks, Altamonte Springs, FL; three grandchildren- Alicia (Kai) Pinto, Durham, NC; Malcolm and Ashley Weeks, Altamonte Springs, FL; two great-grandchildren- Kai Jr., and Aniyah Pinto, Durham, NC; four sisters- Everlin Robertson, Grovetown, GA; Patricia Champion, Petersburg, VA; Many Ann Towler, Newark, NJ and Margaret Phillips, Orange, NJ, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Rosa, I did have the privilege to know her beautiful daughters. So thankful I was able to meet this kind, sweet, and gentle spirit as an aide. She always had a smile even on the days she didn't feel good. She loves her naps. Miss Rosa you will be missed. Ms. Gladys my condolences go out to you and your family ❤️
