Wanda attended the Guilford County Public Schools, and was a graduate of T. Wingate Andrews High School, the rival school to High Point Central High School, where her high school sweetheart Fredrick “Rick” Harris was enrolled. Wanda met Rick one night at the Zodiac Club while he was playing the drums with his band Shamm Productions. Over the next 30 years, she and Rick built their lives here in High Point, where they raised their two beautiful children: Paislee Lajoy and Fredrick Tyree Harris.
Wanda loved reading romance and thriller novels, when she wasn’t sneaking candy into the movie theater to watch the new releases. She was a server at Sir Pizza for thirty-five years, where she brought joy to so many customers and built life-long friendships with the staff. Many also know Wanda from the High Point Country Club where she worked as a prep cook for twenty-two years. Wanda was everyone’s favorite and she will forever be missed by her loving sweetheart, Fredrick “Rick” Harris; her two beautiful children, Paislee Lajoy and Fredrick Tyree Harris; two grandchildren, Bryson White and Raja Bell (“Drama” boys, whom she spoiled tremendously); her mother, Juanita McClerkin; her siblings, Donna McClerkin, Dawn McClerkin, Tabbatha Baker, Lisa Ragland, and Henry Thomas. Wanda had a special relationship with sister cousins, Charla Cooper and Bernadette Cozart. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
