Martha Ann “Marthann” Leavell Wilkinson departed this life to be with her heavenly father on July 21, 2021 at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Sophronia Leavell Reese, her father Kenneth Walker and by her beloved husband of 49 years, Bobby Wilkinson, Sr.

Martha Wilkinson was born on December 15, 1944 in Flatwoods, Kentucky, Garrard County. She was raised by her grandparents, Tom and Ethel Leavell and attended school in Danville, Kentucky. She graduated from Bate High School and worked as a nurse’s aide for a brief time. Later she worked at Jackson Chair Company for more than 20 years and retired from there. She confessed her faith in Christ at a young age and was baptized at Flatwoods Baptist Church under the Rev. William H. Mills. She later joined the First Missionary Baptist Church of Stanford, Kentucky under the Rev. Joe Wells and later with Rev. Thomas Kennedy. Her current Pastor is Rev. Floyd Raglin. Martha served faithfully on the usher board, as Sunday School Treasurer and as a member of the church choir, until her health started to decline.

Her happiest times were spent with and showing unconditional love to her family. The grandkids were her whole world, especially after Bobby Sr. passed. Spending time with her family, working in her puzzle books, and talking on the phone were her favorite pastimes.

Martha leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Bonnie Kay Wilkinson Barnes (John), Bobby Wilkinson, Jr., Bridget Ann Wilkinson Stanfield; grandchildren Charles “Chad” Wilkinson Davis, John Colby Barnes, Lily Patton Barnes, Ellison Wade Stanfield, Kamren-Jakob Stanfield; 3 great grandchildren-Jaizhen Imari Davis, Addison Brielle Barnes and Camilla Rain Barnes. In addition, Martha is survived by three brothers—Michael Hughes (Brenda), Eugene Collins (Sileka) and Tim Collins. She also leaves behind a host of special nieces and nephews. Last but not least, mourning Martha’s passing is her best friend of more than 40 years Pat Brown, other dear friends—Sharon McGuire, Sadie Jones, Lonnie Walker Smith, Mary Joyce Dunn, Carolyn Gooch, Sheila Logan-Benjamin and the incredible ladies of the Stanford Bingo Club.

The repass will be held on the grounds of the church (weather permitting).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lupus Foundation of America or 1st Missionary Baptist Church Stanford, Kentucky in Martha’s name.

From every beginning, there is a end as it is with every birth, there is death, but joy comes in the morning and for this family there is sadness, but also joy knowing that your loved one is walking those streets of gold with God and her Bobby,it's alright now.

My heart goes out to the family. Having lost a mother myself, I know the pain and sorrow that you feel. I pray that your heart is comforted in knowing that she is with the Lord. Bridge, although it was 35 years ago, I remember it like it was yesterday... sitting at your moms table when she cooked her biscuits and gravy with plenty of black pepper. I will cherish this always. I hope you have her recipe. I will keep your family in my prayers. Chrystel
