She moved to Knoxville at age 10 and attended public school graduating from Austin High School in 1965. She worked as a sales clerk at numerous local department stores, Downtown Hilton Hotel gift shop and as a Job Corp coordinator on the Knoxville College campus.
She was a faithful member of Rogers Memorial Church for many years and was a choir member.
She was a kind, generous, sharing, loving, and an ideal wife. She allowed families and individuals to live in her home to give them a hand up. She is also known by her comical greeting “Hello Jello” to her friends and the use of phase “woulda coulda shoulda” for those who should not make excuses.
She leave to cherish her memory her husband James W. Harper of 42 years;son James C. Harper; sister late Linnette Hassell; brother late Bernarnd Hassell; grandchildren Kaionna Harper, Kainyjasha Angel, Kaivion Harper, Kai’Shawn Harper; Niece Sharon Hassell; Newphew Andre’ Keith; Great Niece Adjasha Hassell, Tiara Thompson and Katelyn Biggs; Great Nephew Adonius Hassell, Adarius Mcmillian; Cousins Teresa Howell, Angelo Howell, Dr. Don C Chance Jr. and numerous other extended relatives and friends too numerous to list in fear of missing someone.
There will be a Graveside Service Monday, August 2, 2021 at 11AM at Sherwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. A.D. Baxter rendering the words of comfort.
