Obituary For Roscoe "Tank" Meeks

Roscoe William “Tank” Meeks was born on March 16, 1948 in York County, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Ivory Mackins Meeks and the late Ernest Meeks, Sr. Roscoe’s earthly journey ended on Sunday, August 1, 2021.

“Tank,” as he was affectionately called, graduated from Reid High School in Belmont, North Carolina. He was a member of Mt. Zion Church of God in Gastonia, North Carolina until his death. Tank was a supervisor at Galey & Lord Flint Plant of Gastonia, North Carolina for forty-three years. He was a 5th degree Black Belt and Karate instructor at Kim School of Tae Kwon DO in Charlotte, North Carolina. Some of his favorite hobbies were watching old westerns and Bruce Lee movies, a competitive bingo player, a commemorative coin collector and drinking sweet Lipton tea and putting a dollop of Duke’s mayonnaise in everything! (I mean everything)

He is preceded in death by his mother and father; four brothers and three sisters.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of forty years: Celeste Meeks; one sister: Ivory Odessa Floyd of Gastonia, NC; one brother: Charlie Meeks (Jenny) of Gastonia, NC; three daughters: Tarsha Meeks of Dallas, NC, Crystal Meeks of Gastonia, NC and Jerrilyn Clinton Sanders of Charlotte, NC; one son: Adrian Clinton (Elizabeth) of Ocala, FL; one uncle: Alonso Mackins (Ruthie Mae) of Kings Mountain, NC; twelve grandchildren; six great grands; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Saturday; August 7, 2021; 2:00 p.m.; Mt Zion Church of God-1000 W. Sycamore Ave, Gastonia

Visitation: one hour before the service at the church

Interment: Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia

Masks required at the service, social distancing will be adhered to with limited seating
