Obituary For Ruthie Mae Wright

The late Ruthie Mae McCoggle Wright was born on November 18, 1926, in Valdosta, GA to the late Silas and Lola McCoggle. Ruthie was one of the six children (Emma Lou, Ethel Mae, Lovell, Jessie, and Oscar). At an early age, she devoted her life to the Lord. She was a member of Ousley Temple Church of God and Christ in Valdosta, Georgia, now known as Truth in Life Church of God in Christ. She served and worked faithfully for many years on the Mother Board. She was also a dedicated church member who loved to sing in the choir. One of her favorite songs was, “Walk With Me Lord”.

Ruthie Mae McCoggle Wright has resided in Lowndes County all her life. She was married to the late J.C. Wright who was committed to farming and to that union, they were blessed with three children (Lorene Wright, Betty Jean Wright, and J.T. Wright, Sr.).

On Tuesday morning, August 3, 2021, she departed this earthly life in the company of her family. She was predeceased by her two children: her daughter, Betty Jean Wright McKinnon (Johnny), and her son J.T. Wright, Sr. (Virginia). Her sisters: Lovell McCoggle, Ethel Mae McCoggle Wright (Joseph), and Emma Lou McCoggle Boyd (Jasper), and her brothers, Oscar McCoggle, Sr. (Gussie) and Jessie McCoggle (Mary).

She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Ms. Lorene Wright Sirmans (late, Curtis), and her grandchildren: Kimberly Morris (Allen) of Valdosta, GA; Curtis Wright of Valdosta, GA; Johnny McKinnon (Cherise) of Valdosta, GA; Shawna Early (Marcus) of Warner Robins, GA; Timothy McKinnon of Valdosta, GA; Jay T. Wright, Jr. (Tammy) of Valdosta, GA; Anthony Wright (Brenda) of Valdosta, GA; Priscilla Mack (Curtis) of Valdosta, GA; Marcus Wright (April) of Valdosta, GA; and Jamichael Kirksey of Valdosta, GA. She was blessed with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of relatives and devoted friends that she loved dearly.

Home going service for Mother Ruthie Wright will be held on Sunday, August 8 at 3:00 P. M. at Valdosta High School Performance Art Center with Dr. Curtis Sermons officiating. Burial will follow in the Gary Cemetery. Public viewing will be Friday August 6 from 3:00 P. M. to 6:00 P. M. and Saturday from 9:00 A. M. Til 7:00 P. M. If you are unable to be with us Sunday in person, please join us as we livestream the home going service of Mother Wright on our website.
