Graveside service for Jimmy Watson, 78, of Auburn, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Zion at the Hill A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery, 3845 Lee Road 29, Opelika, AL 36804, Reverend J.D. Darden will officiate.

Mr. Watson, who passed away Monday, August 2, 2021 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL, was born March 21, 1943, in Macon County, Alabama.

Public viewing for Mr. Watson will be Monday, August 9, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (face covering required)

He leaves to cherish his memory: wife of forty-one years, Marjorie Watson of Auburn, AL; five children, Beatrice Watson Lester, Jonathan Watson, Maxine Harrison all of Auburn, AL, Jimmy (Chantelle) Watson, Jr. of Opelika, AL and Veronica Knight of Notasulga, AL; one god-daughter of Vicki (Reginald) Mack of Auburn, AL; seven grandchildren, Michael Perry, Jr. of Montgomery, AL, Kenyetta Patterson of San Antonio, TX, Jada Watson, Tori Watson, Daelen Morgan all of Opelika, AL, Sherard Melton (Quentina Ponds) of Auburn, AL and Martavis (Jewels) Knight of Notasulga, AL; twelve great grandchildren; three sisters, Goldie Jones of West Haven, CT, Marva (Antonio) Santos of Milford, CT and Barbara Watson of Houston, TX; one brother, Alvin Watson of Auburn, AL; one sister-in-law, Gerri Young of Notasulga, AL; one brother-in-law, Lancey (Mary) Ballard of Notasulga, AL; special friend, Frank Tyner of Tuskegee, AL; special nephews, Alonzo (Kerri) Watson, Lester (Ann) Hawley, Larry Ligon and Willie George (Shirley) Watson, Jr. of Auburn, AL; a special niece, Barbara Morris; a devoted friend, John Talley; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, the Brownsville Fire Department and friends.
