Obituary For Ms. Fredia J. Phillips

Van Hoose & Steele Funeral Home, Inc. announces with deepest sympathy the transition of Ms. Fredia Phillips. Freida Jean Phillips was born on February 27, 1952 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Leroy and Bessie Phillips. She graduated from Druid High School. Freida received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama and a master’s in Public Health Administration from the University of Washington in Seattle Washington. Freida confessed Christ at an early age and united with the Elizabeth Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. H.T. Carstarphen. She later moved to Lawrenceville, New Jersey and united with Shiloh Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Darrell Armstrong, where she was a faithful and active member until her passing. Freida had a successful career with the State of New Jersey Department of Human Resources for 32 years. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends during the holidays, in additional to reading, going to the museum, theater and plays in her spare time. Freida departed this life on July 24, 2021. She was preceded in death by her mother Bessie Brant Phillips and father Leroy Phillips. Memories of Freida will be forever cherished by her sisters; Jacqueline Phillips Knox, Tuscaloosa, Al.; Sharon Phillips, Tuscaloosa, Al and brother Dewayne Phillips, Tuscaloosa, Al. She also leaves cherished memories with two aunts and two uncles; a host of cousins and other close friends. She will be missed dearly by all and will eternally live in our hearts.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 10 a.m. Cedar Oak Memorial Park, 1401 Mimosa Park Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405. Pastor Vernon Swift will officiate.

Graveside Funeral Services will be live-streamed via Van Hoose & Steele Funeral Home Inc.’s Facebook Page, Saturday 10:00 AM under the direction of Owner and Dual Licensed Professional Danny Ray Steele LFD#04395
