Mr. Sammy Brooks, III, 59, of Columbus, GA passed Saturday, August 7, 2021 in Columbus, GA.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m.EST, Saturday, August 14, 2021 at St. John A.M.E. Church, Ft. Mitchell, AL. Visitation will be Friday, August 13, 2021 from 1-5 p.m.EST.

Mr. Brooks was born May 30, 1962 in Ft. Mitchell, AL to Dorothy Brooks and the late Sammy Brooks, Jr. He began his Christian journey early in life at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Phenix City, Al, in the late 70’s under the leadership of late Rev. W.L. Lewis.

He was a 1981 graduate of Mt. Olive High School, Ft. Mitchell, AL. He was known for his prolific procession skills and his ability to listen and interchange with the entire Green and Orange “Mighty Tiger’s” band. After graduation, he went on to be an employee at Swift Textiles and later he joined the Boral Bricks staff until his health failed.

Sammy loved and enjoyed life to the fullest. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and was the jokester and life of every gathering. Sammy had a big heart, loved people, and his family, especially his granddaughters. He was preceded in death one sister, Michelle Miles.

He leaves to cherish his memories mother, Dorothy Brooks; one loving daughter, Kennyetta “Keisha” Brooks; six sisters, Barbara (Thomas) Cowing, Betty Morman, Elizabeth Dixon, Evelyn Sanks, Bonnie (Sterling) Griggs and Dorothy Miles; one brother, Derek Brooks. He was the grandfather to four beautiful granddaughters, Janiyah Mona’e Townsend, Lauryn Brielle Brooks, KaLeenah Desirae Brooks, and Ivey Zendaya Brooks; aunt, Beatrice Thomas and a host of nieces, nephews, classmates, family and friends.

He is also survived by his extended family, Wendy Brooks, Ozell Hood and the entire Hood family. We will forever love and treasure our memories of Sammy Brooks, III.
