Obituary For Carrie Smith

Carrie Ann Smith was born on February 25th, 1950 in York County, South Carolina to her mother and father, Minerva Hall Smith and William Eugene Smith. Carrie Smith transitioned her earthly home on August 8th, 2021 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina.

Carrie received her formal education in the York County Public School System. After which, she moved to Gastonia, North Carolina to pursue a career with the Gaston County School System. As a Cafeteria worker, she held this position for thirty plus years before retiring. Her passion for cooking spoke for itself. This was evident by the way her house would fill with family, friends and even people from the neighbor, who loved and enjoyed her passion for cooking. Carrie was a woman full of life, love and the holy- spirit. Everyone she encountered was touched by her gracefulness. She served in many capacities in the church over the years, to include Vice President of the Usher board, a member of the finance & kitchen committee and so much more.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her middle child, Linda Smith.

Carrie was the biological sister of one brother and three other siblings: James Hall, Clifton Luke, Elizabeth Sampson, and Betty Ziltener. In addition, Carrie was the proud mother of three children: Jeannie Smith, Wilford Patterson, and Linda Smith. She leaves behind her eleven grandchildren: Alfreddrick Smith, Sr., Shawn Carroll, Marquis Smith, Shaneka Horton, Mario Smith, Eddie Horton, Jr., Latefa Smith, Roy June, Jr., Marquilia “Passon” Womack, Alexis Jackson, Jerry, Jr., and fifteen great-grandchildren: Katlyn Carter, Katie Smith, Alfreddrick Smith, Jr., Ky’marion Smith, Kamdyn Smith, Freddricka Smith, Tra’Shaun Lattimore, Saniyah Carroll, Za’Marrian Carroll, A’Niylah Carroll, Jordan McDonald, Chosen Smith, Braylon Lewis, Mah’Kai Smith, and Marquis Smith, Jr. Carrie leaves her love and light to all her other relatives including, cousins, aunts, nieces, nephews and other family and friends. She sends much grace and love to her Pastor Janice Mack and her closest confidante, Ms. Bernice Edwards.

Viewing at the funeral home on Saturday from 5 until 8

Funeral: Sunday; 3:00 p.m.; Holy Jerusalem Church, Gastonia

Visitation: thirty minutes before the service at the church

Interment: Rose Hill Cemetery, Gastonia
