Obituary For Mother Corena Giles Brim

On Sunday, August 15, 2021, God in His Infinite Wisdom saw fit to call from labor to reward Mother Corena Giles Brim. She was born on May 1, 1929 in Henry County, VA, the daughter of the late Willie and Elizabeth Spencer Giles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Brim, to whom she was wed for 63 years; her brothers, John, Bishop W.H. Giles, Albert, Walter, Lewis, and Hayes Giles; two sisters, Mimia Giles Hairston, and Betty Giles Lampkins.

Mother Brim was a faithful member of Jerusalem Free Deliverance Church, where she served on the Mothers Board, as a Missionary, and the Choir. She was also a member of the Irisburg Ruritan Club. She retired from the home of Mr. Frank and Mary Lacy after fifty-seven years of dedicated service, and also Dr. Irby, and the CPA Firm of Sales, Hogg and Hogg.

Mother Brim is survived by four daughters, Lillie Stewart, Jacquelyn Brim, Peggy Brim (James) Adams, and Elizabeth "Net" Brim of Axton, VA; one sister, Nancy Fountain of Axton, VA; one sister-in-law, Catherine Giles Pilson of Martinsville, VA; seven grandchildren, Stacy Brim, Reginald Brim, Tyree Adams, Bianca Stewart, Danielle Trotter, Broderick Adams, and Schuyler Adams; eight great-grandchildren; one great godson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 12 noon at Reachout Apostolic Tabernacle with Bishop James Perkins, Eulogist. Burial will follow at the Giles-Brim Family Cemetery #1, Axton, VA. A public viewing will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required.

I will always remember Aunt Corene as being the sweetest lady who made the BEST POUND CAKE I have EVER tasted!! She knew how to make you feel at home even if for a little while.
