After Rev. Woods passing, Deacon Childs served under the pastorship of Rev. Timothy Flemming as chairman of the Deacon Board for a number of years. In 1992, he helped organize Woods Memorial Baptist Church, where he served faithfully under the pastorship of Rev. Toney Mosley. In 1999, Deacon and Sister Childs moved back to his beginning, Thomaston, Georgia where he again united with Fellowship Baptist Church and later, Macdonia Baptist Church, before moving back to Ellenwood, Georgia. On August 13, 2021, the Lord called his name. He answered the call and passed peacefully in his home. His work is completed, and the Lord welcomed him home to eternal rest. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant, well done.” He will always be remembered by his children; daughters-in-law Louise (Otis) and Lucy (Govern); grandchildren, Valerie (Michael) Garlington, Derrick (B.J.)
