Obituary For Sharon M. Kent

Sharon M. Kent, 65, of Martinsville, VA, departed this life on Monday, August 16,2021, at her residence. She was born in Virginia on June 23, 1956, the daughter of the late Earl R. Kent and the late Mavis M. Vaughn Kent.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by four sisters, Olivia Hairston, Theresia Kent, Petrella Fuller, and Janice Kent.

Sharon was a graduate of Martinsville High School, class of 1974, and later received an Associates Degree from National Business College. She retired from Bassett-Walker Knitting Co. with 24 years of service. She was a member of Refuge Temple Ministries.

Sharon leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Sharrika M. Kent of Martinsville, VA; one son, Marcus Kent of Martinsville, VA; sister, Ada Earlene Kent Williams of Axton, VA; grandson, Timothy Ross of Martinsville, VA; granddaughter, Olivia Ross of Martinsville, VA; aunt, Jean Dones of Martinsville, VA; special friend, John Menefee of Martinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Refuge Temple Ministries Annex with Elder Alan Preston, Eulogist. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. A public viewing will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required.

Sharon will be missed by all who knew her. She had a smile that seemed to light up her face. The last time I saw her was at Food Lion and we talked for about an hour about the pandemic and our families. Sharon loved Punkin, Sharrika, Marcus, Lamar, Olivia and the rest of her family.
