Obituary For Shavon Bennett

On Thursday August 12, 2021, our beloved Shavon Elizabeth Bennett was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of fifty-two. Shavon was born to the late Priscilla and Arthur Shackleford on January 20, 1969, at St. Luke's Women's Hospital in Manhattan, New York. She was raised in Far Rockaway in Queens, New York and attended Far Rockaway High School. She met and married Milton Bennett in late 1987 and had a loving relationship with him for ten years. Shavon was a hard worker and hustler by name. She provided for her family by any means necessary. Later in her life she met and fell in love with the late Kevin Palmer in 1995 and was in a thirteen-year relationship with him until he passed away. She owned multiple businesses in her lifetime such as her own clothing store, restaurant, hair salon and home health care agency. She later got remarried to Julian Beckford on March 28, 2013. They enjoyed going out on dates and having fun. She was the type to love the finer things in life and was a showstopper. Shavon went above and beyond for the people she loved. She started working as a homecare worker for elderly people in their homes for the last six years until her untimely sickness. Shavon was called "Sha Love" by her loving family. She was baptized on June 20, 2021. and accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. She was a person that anyone could depend on. She always made the people around her laugh and feel accepted. And even through her sickness she rarely complained about what she was going through. As a result of her kindhearted spirit and her passionate personality she was loved by many. During her life journey Shavon had four loving children: Thelma McClendon, Sandy Bennett, Milton Bennett, and Jayanna Palmer. And Shavon had two loving grandchildren which are Izayah McClendon and Osiris Guilty. Shavon is preceded in death by two aunts and one uncle. She leaves to cherish her memory, her partner Julian Beckford. Her children Thelma, Sandy, Milton, and Jayana. Her grandchildren Izayah and Osiris. Her grandmother Martha Henry. Her siblings Martha, Richard, Arthur, and Westley. Five aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
