Letha attended the public schools of Chesterfield County, South Carolina and was a member of the 1969 graduating class of Gary High School. She furthered her education and was a graduate of Barber Scotia College, Concord, NC and Chesterfield-Marlboro Technical College, Chesterfield, SC.
She confessed Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church until her health failed. She was a great singer and loved to sing with her family and at Mt. Zion. She was involved in the Fellowship Choir which gathered at local churches the 5th Sunday for many years. Letha was a founding member and Vice-President of The Cheraw Community Women, a celebrated gospel group that traveled the east coast singing and praising God. She was known for leading many songs with the Community Women to include, “Tears,” “We Have Come This Far,” and her favorite, “I Hear Crying in The Wilderness.”
Letha was proud to have been a member of The Order of Eastern Star (OES) with her late mother and was actively involved until her mother’s passing.
In addition to her parents, Roy and Polly Cash she was preceded by a brother, Richard Cash.
Left to forever cherish fond and loving memories are her two sons, James Bernard Cash (Sharon) of Greensboro, NC and Derrick Maurice Gaddy of Wilmington, NC; five grandchildren, Reshonda Gaddy, Tomeka Sturdivant, Laquita Robinson, Taylor Cash and Shay McCray; four great grandchildren, Mylaysis Gaddy, Amaurion Little, Kurianna McCauley, Rihkeem Harrington and one great-great grandchild, A’Nayi Gaddy. Four sisters, Eva Mae Johnson, Deloris Norton and Evelyn Johnson all of Cheraw, SC and Teresa (Ricky) Little of Ruby, SC. Four brothers, Jimmy Lee Cash, Arron Cash, Lenis (Merita) Cash and Gary (Stephanie) Cash all of Cheraw, SC. One aunt, Viola Redfern of Charlotte, NC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including very dear friends, Maeella Whight and Ruth “Missy” Isaac and a very special young man, J. Hayes McLendon who cherished her and called her mom.
The Homegoing Services will be on Sunday, August 29, 2021, 2:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be in the family plot of Galilee AME Zion Church Cemetery, Morven, North Carolina.
The public viewing will be on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 3:30-6:30pm at Smith’s Funeral Home.
