COURTESY ANNOUNCEMENT

MR. ALVIN PRESTON POLK, SR. was born August 23, 1941 into the union of the late King Polk, Sr. and Lula Rorie as the eldest child. On August 17, 2021, five days before his soth birthday, the Lord unexpectantly called him to his eternal resting place.

"Daddy", "Alvin", "Pops" "Rollin Stone", "Al", "Granddaddy" was a hard-working free spirit that adored his children and grandchildren. He was extremely proud of "The Polks" and would get so excited whenever he spent time with his family, in person or on the phone. This excitement would sometimes consume him by way of a big grin on his face, an infectious laughter that would cause his shoulders to shake uncontrollably with joy, or a nickname out of adoration.

"Pops" was a self-taught guitarist and loved drag racing and fast cars. Some of his other favorite pastimes included listening to music such as Delfonics, Temptations and Smokey Robinson, discussing and watching sports; especially Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers, watching westerns and traveling.

As a result of his love for traveling, "Daddy" drove tractor trailers for numerous companies, throughout the states, for over fifty years before retiring around 2015. During his many years in the field, he was able to share his love of truck driving and traveling with his kids by occasionally taking one or two of them, at a time, on the road with him.
