Mrs. Beulah Mae Leak Bennett

Beulah Mae Leake Bennett was born November 26, 1927 in Wadesboro, NC to Jessie and Carrie (Huntley) Leake. She received her heavenly call on August 22, 2021 at Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, GA. At a very young age, she gave her life to Christ and was a member of Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She was educated in Anson County Public Schools.

In the spring of 1948, Beulah married Eddie Bennett and they were life partners for 72 years. They relocated to Trenton, NJ where they raised their three children: Patricia, Margaret, and Nadise. The family became members of Wayne Avenue Baptist Church where Beulah served on the Mother’s Board and the Pastor’s Choir.

After living in Trenton for 34 years, Beulah retired from Princeton University and moved back to Wadesboro, NC for 23 years. She became a devoted member of Gatewood Station A.M.E. Zion Church in Morven, NC before she made her final move to Hampton, GA in 2012.

Affectionately known as “Mom-Mom” not only by her grandchildren, but also the neighborhood kids, Beulah made everyone feel like family and she always helped people in her community in any way that she could. She enjoyed playing spades, reading her Bible, and volunteering in the church. She will be remembered as a passionate, giving, loving, and vivacious woman.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Carrie Leake, her siblings: Thelma Leake, Alexander Elliot Leake, Jessie Leake, and Alfonso Leake, her husband, Eddie Bennett, three children, Beulah Patricia Manson, Margret (Roscoe) Jones, and Nadise Bennett, grandchildren, Richard Allen and Ursula Allen Turner.

Beulah leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Frankyee Allen, Chavez Manning, Nicole (Troy) Lee, Sharee Jones, Tron (Paul) Tolifero, Daon Bradley, Shaun Bradley, Janiel Bennett, Natalie Bennett. Son-in-law, Efrain Manson, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The Homegoing Services will be on Saturday, August 28, 2021, 11:00 am, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolilna. Interment will be in the family plot of Gatewood Station AME Zion Church Cemetery, Morven, North Carolina.
