May 7, 1952 - August 22, 2021

James E. Williams dedicated his life to his community, and he touched many through his career as a painter.

We pause here today, to pay our last respects to our departed friend, associate, and neighbor, who departed this life on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at his residence in Gifford, South Carolina.

James E. Williams (affectionately called "Sonny" by his family and friends) was born May 7, 1952 to the late Roosevelt and Eunice Williams in Hampton County, South Carolina.

He was educated in the public schools of Hampton County. At an early age, he became a baptized member of Long Branch Church, Gifford, South Carolina.

During his leisure time, Sonny loved to hunt, fish, and play the guitar. He also loved to paint, and as a result, Sonny became a professional painter. Becoming a professional painter was his dream job.

In addition , to his beloved parents, he is preceded in death by (2) Brothers: Eugene and John; (3) Sisters: Mattie, Zora Lee, and Rosella.

Sonny leaves to mourn, yet rejoice in his astonishing memories: Loving Companion of 43 years/Caregiver: Daisey Dobson, of the home; (1) Son: James E. Williams, Jr. of the home; (3) Sisters: Lillie Mae Simmons, Ella (Leon) Blake, and Annie (Jerry) Sanders, all of Gifford, SC; (9) Grandchildren; (2) Nieces reared in the home: Victoria Williams, Gifford, SC, and Hazel (Charles) Melvin, Columbia, SC; (1) Nephew reared in the home, Kenneth (Joanne) Robinson, Savannah, GA; (2) Devoted friends reared as sons: Kelvin Dobson, Hampton, SC, and Matthew Dobson, Gifford, SC; (3) Devoted friends reared as daughters; Jacquetta Dobson, Scotia, SC, Lashonda Dobson, Fairfax, SC; Tameka (Darryl) Lee, Fairfax, SC (St. Mark Community); Special family members, Frances Dobson, Lena, SC, L.D. Dobson, Gifford, SC, Richard (Lena) Dobson, Rincon, GA., Sue (John Frank) Jones, Brunson, SC, L. B. Dobson, Ezekial (Mary) Robertson all of Lena, SC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
