Elnora Hines Reed

Elnora Hines Reed was on born August 29, 1926 to the late Frank and Sallie Hines in Tallahassee, FL. Her family moved from Tallahassee when she was in her early teens.

She attended school in St. Lucie County. She was retired from the Custodial Department of the Indian River Community College. Elnora loved traveling and seeing new places and of course fishing.

Elnora met and married the late David Reed on March 18 1950; at David’s death they were married 65 years.

Elnora joined Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church as a teenager and served as a member of the choir, usher and pastor’s aid boards.

On Friday, August 20, 2021, the death angel went into her room and called her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; parents: Frank and Sallie Hines; brothers: Charles Hines, Hardy Hines, Frank Hines Jr. and Joseph Laster Jr. sisters: Maggie Coleman, Louise Jackson, Katie Jackson, Annie Lee Jenkins, Catherine Killings and Rosetta Johnson.

Left to cherish her memory are: daughter: Shirley Reed Lyons, Port St. Lucie sons: David Reed Jr. (Cheryl) Port St. Lucie; Donald Reed (Brenda) Orlando, FL; brother: Earnest Porter Ft. Pierce; sister: Shirley Hines Atkins (William) Sebastian, FL; Sister-in-laws: Delores Hines (Charles), Connie Hines (Frank Jr.) both of Ft. Pierce; 13 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild and two Aunts, and a host of loving nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.

Public visitation for Elnora Hines Reed will take place on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 3:00pm-7:00pm at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL. A Celebration of her Life will convene on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Mount Moriah Primitive Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL beginning at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
