Obituary For Sylvia Vanderpool Fletcher

I’ve changed my address to Heaven I’ve crossed the Great Divide. I know there’s no sorrow or crying, Because I’ve reached the other side. Mrs. Sylvia V. Fletcher, 81, of Warren County, North Carolina departed this life on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Warren Hills Nursing Center, Warrenton, North Carolina.

She is survived by husband Samuel Fletcher; daughter Shelly Vanderpool Jackson (Erick Jackson) of Washington, DC; son Scot-Erik Vanderpool (Mariya Strauss) of Baltimore, MD; stepson Joshua Brown (Alquetta Brown); grandchildren Malcolm, Omari, Sasha, and Taiyo; greatgrandchildren Amirah and Carter; and nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and friends.

A private memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Boyd’s Funeral Home, 149 Holland Bland Road, Warrenton NC 27589. The service is limited to family and invitees due to COVID restrictions. A virtual attendance is also planned for the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society and the Chapel of the Good Shepherd,1202 Ridgeway-Warrenton Road, Ridgeway, NC 27570

Sylvia, was a true dependable friend. I called her the community response team leader. If one of her friends needed a listening ear, she was there for you and would respond with such light words and make you feel as if you really did not have an issue. Sylvia, did not complain about her health troubles. She carried one day at a time. During her last couple of months on earth I was unable to assist with her care. The last good conversation I had with Sylvia, she asked me "why do you think God is keeping me here"? L.M.C.
