Lorraine Askew Moore

The funeral services for the late Mrs. Lorraine Moore of 6118 Poplar Road, Albany, Georgia, who departed this life on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from the Shepard Memorial Garden Cemetery in Sylvester, Georgia. Words of Comfort will be given by Reverend Ira Thomas. Services may be viewed Facebook Live from the "Shipps Funeral Home" Facebook page.

Lorraine Askew Moore, affectionately known as “Pudge”, was born on September 17, 1960 to the late Hosa Sr. and Effie Mae Smith Askew in Newark, New Jersey.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was later baptized by Rev. Dr. E. T. Byrd at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey.

While completing her education she met and later married Mr. Eddie Moore and became the mother of two sons. After graduating Barringer High School in 1978, she graduated from Seton Hall University with honors, and then went on to attend Elite Nursing School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

After working at University Hospital (UMDNJ) on the surgical team for 22 years, she relocated to Albany, Georgia where she continued her career as a nurse at East Albany Medical Center. She was later employed by Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Centralized Scheduling where everyone grew to love “Mrs. Lo”. She was loved by many and enjoyed her job as a nurse.

She was called home to Eternal Rest on August 30, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Dannette Bond, Charles Smith, and Hosa Keith Askew Jr.

Lorraine leaves to cherish her loving and fondest memories: husband, Eddie Moore; two sons, Tariq (Tanise) Moore, Terrance (Ebony) Moore; grandchildren, Brandan, Kaden, Tristian, Trinity; her brother, Garrett (Jackie) Askew; four sisters, Sharon (Emmanuel) Kasule, Stephanie Askew, Yvette Askew, and Tonya (Clyde) Quittley; four god-children, Antuan Wilson, Jason and Javon Wheeler, Katrina Freeman; a father-In-Law, Lynwood Moore, Sr.; one surviving aunt, Ophelia Parker; and a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
