David Lee

David Augustus Lee, 77, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania transitioned into eternal life on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 in the peace and love of his home. He was born in Harrisburg, son of the late Beatrice Bland and the late David Bland, received his formal education in the Harrisburg School System, entered the U. S. Marine Corps in 1963, served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge in 1972 and was a recipient of a Purple Heart. Brother David united with the fellowship of the Mount Calvary C. O. G. I. C. in 1983. Whenever there was a funeral service at the Church; he was faithful in making sure the doors were open so that whoever needed access was able to get in the church to prepare for the funeral. In 1984, he was united into holy matrimony to Dessie Mae (Gilmore) Mitchell and celebrated 37 years of marriage. During his working career, David was employed at various jobs. He retired from doing Security Guard employment in 1992. In the community, he served as a fireman for 25 years at The Camp Curtin Fire Company No. 13 and in his leisure, David enjoyed reading, loved food and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two of his brothers, Kirk Lee and Vaughn Lee. David’s life and legacy will be cherished by his loving and devoted wife; Dessie Lee; his stepdaughters, Rachael Neals, Connie Emerson and Roberta Mitchell, all of Harrisburg; his eight grandsons, Derrick Link, Darryl Link, Ahmed Link, Tyjai Link, Sr, Tyson Jenkins, Clifton Emerson, Jr, Charles Warner and Garry Mills, Jr.; his two grand daughters, Shamika Mills and Nakia Mills; his 15 great grandchildren; his five great- great grandchildren; his brothers, John Lee and Darryl Lee; his in-laws, Ann and Larry Murphy, Gloria Gilmore, Debbie Gilmore and Elder D. R. and Gwendolyn Gilmore and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and his church family. His life will be celebrated with a private viewing and funeral service in the Chapel of Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton on Wednesday, September 1 and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
