Jolanda Kayun King transitioned peacefully on August 27, 2021, at the age of 46. Jolanda Kayun King a.k.a “Jo-Jo” was born July 18, 1975, in Gary, Indiana at Methodist Hospital to Doris Lynette Davis-Jones and Joseph King,Jr. Jolanda was baptized in Jesus Name at sevenyears old at Zion Tabernacle Apostolic Church in East Chicago, Indiana. She was then filled with the Holy Ghost at the age of thirteen. Jolanda attended Carrie Gosch Elementary, West Side Junior High School, and then moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1990 with her mother, stepfather, and siblings. She attended Washburn High School and graduated in 1993. She went on to attend KRS Computer and Business School to receive her certification in accounting. She furthered her education byattending Mountain View College, receiving her Associate of Arts degree in Accounting with honors. On January 20, 1995, Jolanda and Dennis Nickens were blessed with their first-born son,Keyunta Lewis Watkins. On November 18, 1997, they received another blessing, their second son, KeAnthony Lee Nickens. Jolanda was preceded in death by: Herchildren’s father, Dennis Nickens; Her father,Joseph King Jr.; Paternal grandmother,Madeline King; Maternal grandparents, Johnnieand Charlene Boone. She leaves to cherish her memories: Sons, Keyunta Watkins, Fort Worth, Texas;KeAnthony Nickens, Douglasville, Georgia; Mother, Doris Jones, Loganville, Georgia; Stepfather, Ronald (Kai) Jones Sr., Galveston, Texas; Grandfather, Joseph King Sr., Gary, Indiana. Siblings: Shameeka (Shawn) Williams, Merrillville, Indiana; Dana (Leonard) Wiley, Loganville, Georgia; Angela (Terrence) Smith, Duluth, Georgia; Ronald (Danielle) Jones Jr., Atlanta, Georgia; Michael (Heather) Jones, Marietta, Georgia; Tia (Darrell) Alston, Lithonia, Georgia; Madeline King, Austell, Georgia; Bonus mother Spergeon Valoria Jones, Austell, Georgia; Paternal aunts Princella Heath and Armeca King, Gary, Indiana; Maternal aunts Rosemary ( ) Ryan, Burnsville, Minnesota; Gwendolyn (Robert) Riley, St. Paul, Minnesota; Janice Putman, Kalamazoo, Michigan; Ann (Spencer) Colbert, Crown Point, Indiana; Penni Johnson, Omaha, Nebraska;Special friends: Stevon Campbell, Lithonia, Georgia; Enrica Triggs, Douglasville, Georgia; Brigette Williams, Little Rock, Arkansas; TriaArkansas, Dallas Texas; Antron Lay, Atlanta, Georgia; Exie Jameson, Chicago, Illinois; Special sister/cousin, Armeca (Darwin) Ezell, Merrillville, Indiana; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives bonus/godchildren and friends.
Celebration of Life Service for Ms. King will be Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 1:00PM; Greater Christ Temple Holiness, 914 Cherokee Ave SE Atlanta, GA 30315.
Viewing will be Friday, September 3, 2021 from 2PM-6PM at Willie A. Watkins Historic West End Chapel.
Interment: Georgia Memorial Park
