Obituary For John W. Menefee

John W. Menefee, 71, of Royal Dr., Martinsville, VA, departed this life on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bassett, VA on July 9, 1950, the son of the late John Penn and the late Myrtle F. Smith Menefee.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Charles McClain; special, loving and dedicated friend, Sharon Kent.

John retired from Stanley Furniture Company after many years of service.

John leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Marcus Kent of the home; two sisters, Ella Mae Menefee and Myrtle Menefee both of Bassett, VA; three brothers, Gerald Menefee and Tommy Menefee both of Bassett, VA, and Ellick Menefee of Rocky Mount, VA; one grandchild, KeyAisha McClain of Bassett, VA; special daughter, Sharrika Kent of Martinsville, VA; special friend, Ada Earline Kent Williams of Axton, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Refuge Temple Ministries Annex, with Elder Alan Preston, Eulogist. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. A public viewing will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 .m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required. All other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home, 904 Royal Dr., Martinsville, VA. The family ask that you observe all COVID-19 guidelines.
