Obituary For Alice Clementine Wiggins

A home going celebration for Mrs. Alice Clementine Wiggins of Talladega, 70, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Pine Hill Memorial Park. Pastor A. G. McKinney will officiate. Visitation for Mrs. Wiggins will be 1-7 p.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Alice Clementine Atchison Wiggins was born in Bay Minette, Alabama on September 28, 1950, to the union of David Atchison and Roxanne Gandy Atchison.

Mrs. Wiggins devoted her life to Christ and united with Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church where she was a deaconess, served on the nurses guild and an usher. Alice was a graduate of Alabama School for the Blind and continued her education at E. H. Gentry Technical Facility. Alice worked for 21 years at Alabama Industries for the Deaf and Blind before her retirement in 2017. She was an active member of the National Federation of the Blind which helped foster her love for travel as well as motivate her to encourage her niece, Tocha, to take her on trips. Alice also loved reading her Bible when she had free time. Love found Alice and she entered into holy matrimony with Willie A. Dates. They celebrated over 40 years of love until his passing. Love once again found Alice and in 2013 she married Antonio A. Wiggins and they would have been celebrating their 8th anniversary later this month.

On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, Alice answered the Lord’s call to rest at Citizens Baptist Medical Center. She was preceded in passing by her husband, Willie A. Dates; her parents, David and Roxanne Atchison; three sisters, Mittie Cleo Burpo, Catherine Jackson and Mildred P. Gaines; two brothers, Louis Atchison and David Atchison, Jr.

Mrs. Wiggins will forever remain in the heart of her husband, Antonio A. Wiggins; two sisters, Deloris (Joel) Barnes and Annette (Clayton) Fields of Bay Minette, Alabama; one brother, Frank Gandy of Talladega, Alabama; a loving sister-in-law, Bernice Robinson; a loving and devoted niece, Tocha Calhoun; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
