Obituary For Mrs. Blondie Forrest

2 Corinthians 5:6-8 KJV Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (for we walk by faith, not by sight:) we are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Ms. Blondie Dean Forrest was born on May 13, 1953, in Dearing, Georgia to both the late Morris and Arrie Grissom. She entered into eternal rest on August 27, 2021 at the home of Phillip and Coretta Harris in Milledgeville, Georgia.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Forrest; her brothers Willie Roy “Jack” Grissom and James “Bill” Grissom Sr.

Sister Blondie Forrest joined the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia, where she served faithfully as an active member of May Birth Month Ministry, Music Ministry, Church in Training (BTU), and Soul Winning Workshop. Without a doubt, she loved her Church family and her Pastor.

Sister Forrest graduated from Thomson High school in 1971. She also attended the Augusta Area Technical College, the CSRA Law Enforcements Training School, and Georgia Police Academy. Sister Forrest retired from the Richmond County Sheriff Department with 40 years of service. To Blondie’s family, she was “The Law”.

Blondie leaves the following living family members to celebrate and reflect on her life: three sisters, Ms. Jo Evelyn Flournoy, Ms. Mary Francis Cartledge, Mrs. Lonnie (Larry) Williams all of Thomson Georgia; three brothers, Mr. Morris Lee Grissom, Jr., Mr. Leon (Linda) Grissom, both of Detroit, Michigan, and Mr. Raymond (Angela) Grissom of Thomson, Georgia; a loved niece whom she grew up with as a sister, Gloria (George) Boyd of Dearing, Georgia; three aunts, Sarah (Charles) Johnson of Augusta Georgia, Carrie Bell Grissom of Mesena, Georgia, Evelyn Grissom of Atlanta, Georgia; a devoted niece Coretta (Phillip) Harris whom she looked to as her daughter and great niece Dasia Harris; four individuals that she affectionately called godchildren, Ricardo Bonner, Nichole Murdaugh, Ja’mari Grissom and Syria Grissom; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sorrowing friends.

Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 11:00 am at Lithonia Baptist Church Cemetery, in Camak, GA. Public visitation will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the mortuary. All CDC guidelines will be observed. W. H. Mays Mortuary, 1221 James Brown Boulevard, Augusta, GA 30901 (706)722-6401.
