Homegoing Celebration Honoring the life of Willie Holmes Sr

Willie Holmes Sr. was born April 9,1943 in Ruleville, MS to the late John and Minnie Holmes. He was preceded in death by his only brother William Holmes. He moved to Belle Glade in the early 1960's and made Belle Glade his home. He was employed at Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida as a Mechanic for 35 years before retiring. In his past time he enjoyed fishing, playing checkers and dominos with the locals. Later in his adult life he gave his life to Christ and joined Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Lionel Camel.

In 1975 he met his loving and devoted wife Judy Bynes Holmes. Willie leaves behind his loving wife Judy Bynes Holmes of Belle Glade, FL, two daughters; Salastine Holmes of Delray Beach, FL and Melinda (Barry) Hilton of Palm Beach Gardens, FL three sons; Willie Holmes Jr (deceased) Arthur (Sheila) Bynes and Maurice (Yolonda) Bynes of Belle Glade,FL; one nephew William(Alnesha) Holmes of Clewiston, FL; one niece Bernice (Karl) Hodge of Port Saint Lucie, FL; special cousins Robert Carter, Mary Newsome, and Shirly McCollum all of Mississippi, nine grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Special friends, Linnie Rouse, Carl Wheatley, Joe Wright and Clearance Lewis, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
