Mrs. Ethel B. Smith was born in Macon, GA to the parentage of the late John Henry and Susie Hill Smith. She was educated in the Bibb County School System and graduated from Ballard Hudson High School. She continued her education in nursing and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Survivors include: son, Gary Brown, Sr; grandchildren; Nikkeya Brown, Derrick Brown and Gary Brown, Jr; siblings; Louise Archer, Dr. Evans (Pearlie) Brown, Sr., and Tommie Brown, Sr; a special niece, Gloria (Al) Pearson; other relatives and friends.
