Magnolia Polk Sturdivant, born to the late Leroy Polk and Emma Lee Polk, was born June 25, 1941 in Anson County, NC. Magnolia was called to eternal rest on Thursday, September 2, 2021.

Magnolia was married to the late Theodore Nesbert Sturdivant.

A loving and devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, auntie, and friend, Magnolia was the kind of person whose heart was made full by loving on those she held closest and showering them with her affection. Magnolia lit up the room with her smile, laughter, and personality. She was a fiery woman who lived life on her own terms and in her later years, showered many of us with her quick wit and sharp tongue. She loved deeply and fully and made sure we all knew the depths of her love. Magnolia lived a full life and although her eighty years seems short to those she leaves behind, her impact was profound, leaving all of us with many cherished memories, and a legacy of love.

She leaves to cherish her memory five daughters, Sandra Sturdivant of Brooklyn, NY; Aisha Jaaber (Muhammad) of Elizabeth, NJ; Lora Sturdivant of Polkton, NC: Frances Sturdivant of Chesterfield, SC; and Felisha Sturdivant of Brooklyn, NY: three brothers, Purcell Polk (Hazel) of Charlotte, NC; Johnny Polk (Angelina) of High Point, NC; and Louis Polk of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Helen Sturdivant of Charlotte, NC: and LaVerne Polk of Monroe, NC; 29 grandchildren, one of which, Saiydah Jaaber, preceded her in death; 57 great grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren; and a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Magnolia was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Julia Crowder and a nephew, Ryan Shaundell Polk.

Our deepest condolences to my Aunt's children. My 1st cousins. Aunt Magnolia kept my little sister and I briefly way back when we were little children. She treated us really kind. Those are my memories of her. And then several times my Mom and I visited her in the nursing home. But my fondest memories of her were when I was a child. I loved her dearly and to all of her family I'm praying God's peace that surpasses all understanding encamps around and in you. And May God bless you all. We definitely will miss Aunt Magnolia. All my Love. Sincerely, Evangelist Cynthia McLendon (Burns)
