Humble, generous, kind, loving, peaceful, gentle, humorous, genuine and so many other adjectives describe Don's beautiful spirit. We met at Central United Methodist Church and shared an enduring friendship. I will never forget when Don met Effie. He immediately knew she was his soulmate and their love for each other was always evident. He committed himself wholeheartedly to God, his family, church, work and everything he touched. Always selfless, always giving, always concerned for others. Don truly lived the example that God expects of each of us. Sincere sympathy to Effie, the children, the entire Chisholm Family and Friends. May Don's loving spirit live on in each of us. Sincerely, Teresa Vicks Givens

Dear sweet Effie, I am so sorry for you and the children. Don was such an amazing guy who cared so deeply for other people. I remember how patient he was with both the kids and adult volunteers at Central's Youth Enrichment Program, showing up every Saturday, driving the van, and always smiling. When my mother had her heart attack, Don came to the hospital with flowers the very first day! He was that kind of friend. But the happiest I ever saw Don was when you and he started dating. You and Don were perfect for each other. He loved you to the core, and that is something you will always have, no matter what. Take care, stay strong (I know you will) and enjoy every memory of this great man. Love to you and your family, Bonnie Cameron

Family, as a former teammate of Donnie's, I want to extend my sympathies for your loss. "Chis", as I like to call him, was a fun teammate and he made me laugh and smile. I remember times in the huddle when we would cut up after calling the defense. I would tell Chis to keep those big guys off of me and I would get some comments back in that deep voice and then a smile! May the Lord Jesus Christ bless and keep those "Chis" loved and cared about. Be blessed (Matt 5:3-12). Duane Wood

Family I played with Donnie for 2 years I was older than him and we played the same position and he took my job a time or two! I never heard Donnie, the "Chis" say a negative word to anyone at anytime. Donnie was one of my favorite people and the few times I saw him over the last 30 years he had not changed a bit and a breath of fresh air to be around. I and the world will miss him. To the family of Donnie Chisholm, I send you my deepest sympathies and condolences. I was a teammate of Donnie at GT and he was not only a great teammate, but a great person. I have terrific memories of Donnie and feel blessed to have known him during that period of my life. I want Effie and his children to know that your husband and father was a great and kind man, even at a young age when most of us were trying to figure out who we were. He was a great role model.
