Obituary For Mrs. Dorothy Mae Lindsey Rivers

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Rivers, daughter of the late Miss Geneva Lindsey was born March 1, 1942, in McFarlan, North Carolina. She departed this life on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at her residence.

She attended the public schools of Anson County. She confessed Christ at an early age and later became a faithful member of Church of God Prophecy in Morven, North Carolina until her health declined.

In 1960, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Joe Thomas Rivers, Sr. and to this union five children were born. She loved her family and was a true friend to all. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

In addition to her mother and husband, she was preceded in death by two (2) sons. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, talking on the phone, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and family members.

She leaves to cherish her devoted children, Joe Thomas Rivers, Jr. of Matthews, North Carolina, Doris Rivers (Ben) of Polkton, North Carolina and Shelly (Mike) Lowery of Morven, North Carolina. Ten grandchildren with one raised as her own, Brittney (James) Herring of Dothan, AL, Quentin Lowery, JuQuaveon Lowery, Marquesia Lowery, Marquavia Lowery, Myasia Lowery, Mylasia Lowery, Maleyiah Lowery, Joe Thomas Rivers, III, and Devin Rivers all of Anson County. Eleven great-grandchildren. Three brothers, Charles (Lee Doris) Lindsey, James (Frances) Lindsey both of Morven, North Carolina and Otis Lee (Betty) Lindsey of Thomasville, North Carolina; two sisters, Mary Hester Lindsey of Chesterfield, South Carolina and Irene Lindsey of the home. A Special cousin, Mrs. Shirley Crawford. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Homegoing Services were held on Sunday, September 12, 2021, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment followed in the family plot of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Morven, North Carolina.

Face Mask/Coverings are REQUIRED to be worn at all times during the viewing, visitation and services.
